Our middle school students went to Elgin on Saturday to audition for the SWOBDA honor bands. They competed against students from many other schools. Competition is stiff, since the bands only take so many people. It is not easy, and we are very proud of all of our students. 7th grade: Savannah Ward (4th chair tuba), Jase Bryant (2nd chair trombone), Nathan Nguyen (1st chair trombone), Eli Ridgeway (7th chair trumpet), Aiden Foust (3rd chair alto saxophone), Levi Metscher (7th chair trombone) 8th grade: Lucas Chain (3rd chair trombone), Ellie Martin (3rd chair french horn), Kailey Moore (5th chair flute)

📢 Mock Election Day Fun! 🗳️ Yesterday, our students had the exciting opportunity to participate in a mock election to vote on President! It was so much fun watching them stand in line, go through the process, and engage in this real-world experience. This hands-on activity gave them a deeper understanding of our democratic system and the importance of voting. Look at post to see some great pictures of our young voters in action!

WMS students celebrated Día de los muertos last week in Mrs. Dougherty's Spanish classes. They shared memories about loved ones who had passed away and honored their memories by creating art throughout the week. "It's not about the quality of the art produced, but about the time spent remembering the people we hold in our hearts." Students remembered grandparents, aunts and uncles, cousins, and siblings. Día de los muertos is a celebration of lives passed and our deep and true connections with those lives.

We want to alert students with a Farm Permit, motorcycle license or Driver's license who drive to and from school about a few important guidelines to ensure everyone’s safety: - License/Permit Copies Required: Students (or parents) must provide the school with a copy of the Permit or License. This will be kept on file for reference. - School-Issued Parking Permit: All student vehicles must display a school-issued parking permit at all times while parked on campus. - Designated Parking Area: Students are required to park in a specific area on campus. Check with administration for location. - No Transporting Other Students: Students are not allowed to transport other students. - Leaving Campus During School Hours: If a student needs to leave during the school day, a parent, guardian, or person designated by the parent must come into the office to sign them out. - Unauthorized Departures: If a student leaves campus in their vehicle without being checked out in person by a parent or guardian, our SRO will be notified. All families will be receiving a PARKING AND STUDENT VEHICLE USE document in the mail to sign and return to the school. Thank you for helping us keep WMS a safe environment for all!

Only a few days left to donate to those in need! This month at WMS, our focus has been on the word of the month: Kindness. To put that into action, we're excited to kick off Socktober! From now until October 31st, we're collecting socks to donate to those in need. The organizations we're supporting are Harley's House (sizes for ages 0-5), Mission House (adult sizes), and the VA Hospital of Clinton (adult sizes with grippers). We greatly appreciate any donations you can contribute!

We had a fantastic time celebrating our students and staff at last week’s assembly! We honored many #GOALS students, recognized our Students of the Month and Kindness Student of the Month, and cheered for our “Cheers for Peers” teacher, Mrs. Moses! In addition, Officer Bushong spoke to our students about Red Ribbon Week and the importance of saying no to drugs. Thank you, Officer Bushong! WMS students and staff are achieving amazing things every day. ♥️🦅
